i think its official that im getting a corn, its probably just gonna be a normal

but the one i am going to buy is about three months i believe, is it NECESSARY to put him in a small container, or can i go ahead and put him in my 30 gallon long. i have a heat pad and i have an infrared heat bulb.. if i do put him in the thirty gallon long, do i keep the heat pad and the bulb on all the time or what?

Is there such a thing??? NO! Normals are drop dead gorgeous in my opinion. so, Congrats!

As far as your enclosure, here's something I have done... Set up your big enclosure but house the baby in a rubbermade/sterilite shoebox sized container, inside of the larger container, with one end placed on the under tank heater, but with some bedding or a large slate tile over the glass on the heated end to lessen the impact of the heat. Make sure that it has a small water container located in the cool end of the shoe box. I use aspen bedding in my shoeboxes deep enough to burrow into. Takes up less space, utilizes the same heat, and when it's outgrown the shoebox, it's ready to move into the large cage and being that it's in the same room, it will be acccustomed to the sounds and vibrations and will undergo less shock.

Oh, and forgot to answer your other questions... how much heat and how long you have it on really depends on your location and the ambient temp of the room the tank is in.

I live in So Cal and so I only use under tank heaters on most of the year except during a really warm spell. Winter, summer, for the colubrids, that's all they need. My pythons get extra heat and humidity as they require more...

a few adjustments

i no longer have a 30 gal tank avaliable, but what i do have is a 9 gallon multipurpose storage conationer 17 3/4"L x 11 3/4" W x 13" H (plastic). i was told i could house him in here until they are about a year.. i will definetly have atleast a 30 gal avalaible by then, but how do i properly house him in what i have here .. as far as heating goes.. i know the bedding and hide box routine, thanks please post soon!!! sooner i convice my mom the sooner i can get one.. im so excited!!

p.s. sorry if i said JUST a normal.. i think its great too!
