So yesterday, his third day with us, I tried feeding my new baby beauty a pinky and he out right refused. I tried everything I could think of but he wasn't even close to interested. Should I just leave him be for a few days then try again? He hasn't eaten in maybe five days or so. The lady I got him from said all the babies had been hand fed a few times and had their first shed. He's not lacking in energy when i get him out of his hide but this refusing to eat drives my batty!!
 
Definitely leave him alone for a few days. Beauties can be very nervous snakies, and for you to be picking him up quite a bit and trying to feed him, he's probably getting a bit stressed. Leave him alone with no handling for another 4-5 days, and he should eat no problem.
 
What I would do is make sure he has the right humidity and temps. Then let him settle for a week. These snakes are very smart, try not to get your scent on the mice. Then put him in a tub and put the thawed pinkie in with him, put him in a dark place and don't disturb him for 2-3 hours. Make sure you leave him alone! Hope this helps!
 
Robbie said it all. Leave him alone and let him get used to his new home. Don't bother him at all for 4 or 5 days. Then when you do feed him, put the mouse in and then leave. Don't stand there like a giant hovering over the viv waiting to pounce as soon as the snake leaves his hide.
 
Thanks guys. I'll leave him be for sure! The lady I got him from said she was hand feeding them so I figured he'd be okay. But I will try the container feeding in a few days.Thanks again!
