bad genes?

wishing more time for 8
My little Zuko is an amel but his reds fade out near the tail, what causes this? is it weak genes? he has beautiful reds in top and center but by tail they fade to just whitish-peach. i see other amels that have the red continueing throughout the whole body of the corn and im jealous
i have an idea of what the reasons are, but its hard for my thoughts to turn into words in some situations...
here are some pics of what we're talking bout here:
sorry the flash makes him seem more white towards tail in this one...

im also waiting for him to shed...i bought him october 29th and i cant wait to see some of his layers unfold! :santa:

Thanks in advance yall :wavey:

My guess is that his red just hasn't come in yet. Hatchlings change color, sometimes drastically as they get older. I have pictures of amels that looked almost like snows when they hatched. Give it a few months/sheds and then see how he looks - I bet more red will come in for you.

I dont think he will get much red down there, its all borders. Now thats what I would call a reverse okeetee.

Nice albino okeetee!

Lots of people would be jealous to have that one! They change a lot the first several months. Don't judge yours until it is close to a year old or so, and only compare it to others of similar age and size. If you don't like it as a yearling, I bet you will have a lot of takers who would be happy to take it off your hands, lol!

My reverse okeetee also has those extreme borders making his saddles towards his tail paler. It's a selected look, they may fill in as they grow but just as sunglows are bred to show less white, Reverse okeetees are bred to have more
