I knew I shouldn't have gotten this high maintenance perm!

Went to check on a few of my snakes today, and quite a few of them were deeply in blue. I snapped some pictures of the most drastically opaque.

He's usually soooo bright, it's funny to see him in such a dull state.

You know how snake's attitudes can change when they're in blue? Well in Rorschach's case, he actually seems to CALM DOWN!
Said with a British accent:

I con't be ossed.

Here's Haight, another snake who's normally a breath taking beauty. In shed though...

Don't let her look directly at you, she may turn you into stone!

Hey, I was hidden under here for a reason!

Even Haight's next door neighbor Ashbury was in blue! They must be on the same cycle... :sidestep:

This gal wasn't going to let a little bit of extra skin get in her way though!

She let me know exactly what she thought of me sticking my camera in her face on such an "compromising day" .

Just kidding, none of my snakes really got that POed at me during these quick photo sessions. Just thought it would be funny to share some of these "deep in blue" photos for a laugh. I'll update this thread when they've all shed so everyone can see how drastically different some snakes can look pre and post shed.

All mine turn into needy sweethearts when they are in blue. I always jokingly say they are going though a hard time since they look so depressed, lol!

Most folks shy away from pics of the shedding snakes. Nice different take on this.

haha, thanks. I think it's interesting how different some of them can look when they are deeply deeply in blue.

Of course I'm going to update this thread with pictures of them all nice n shiny when they do shed too.

Not THAT unconventional!

Cool! I always enjoy seeing comparisons from fresh shed & blued photo's!

They sure so look different when they are in blue. Mine get pretty jumpy when in blue so I tend to leave them alone...my boyfriend calls it "their time of the month" since they are crabby and since I got them as babies they would shed once a month :)

I took a few pictures of my snow in shed because there are so many people who say they can't tell when their snow is going to shed. But to me it's obvious.

Kinda looks like an old lady.

P.s.
Sorry for hijacking.

hahaha, looks like we're on the same page! That's what I was getting at with the hint at my girls cycles being synced up. ;)

hah! That picture is pretty hilarious! Feel free to post the post shed comparison shot as well! It could be a good tool for those who don't know the signs of a snow in shed, and also serve as comedic relief!

Ps: That's what I was kind of hoping this thread could double as. Not only did i want it to be funny, but also kind of pre answer any (oh no, is it normal for my snake to turn pepto bismal pink?!!) questions for new comers who may not know.

Post those comparison shots away! Hopefully I'll have my updates soon.

There's only been one time that all 3 of my snakes went into shed at the same time. They all shed within a day of each other. It was pretty weird! They still shed close to each other though. One will go into shed and then a week or two later another one will. Not as close but still within a few weeks of each other.

Jessica, I love the pattern on Ashbury!

Thank you, I love her too! I really love that Banded Motley look. I think it makes snakes look extra clean and crisp!

Ok guys, sorry it took me so long to update this thread! I was visiting with family over the weekend who I haven't seen in around a decade, and well.. you know how that goes!

I DID take photos of everyone when they were fresh shed though! Since we're on a second page I'll repost the pics so everyone can see how different these guys look. FYI, lighting is the same style (overhead lighting and flash) for the before and after pictures so that they are as similarly exposed as possible!

I'm pretty happy with this little project group! I got the male from Jay and PJ of PJC Reptiles, and the females from Joanna D. of Mojo Herps. They have all been great growers and are turning out beautifully! I hope the girl's poss hets turn out, but even if they don't I feel that Haight and Ashbury are beautiful examples of their morphs.

I especially love pulling out Haight when I have friends over who are oohhing and aahhhing over my corns and say, "and this is what a Normal corn, the start of it all, can look like!"

I hope you enjoyed the fun comparison shots. If you have your own examples of snakes in deep blue and fresh shed, feel free to post. I know there are more extreme examples out there.

Also, I have more pictures of these beauties. I'll be updating their individual progression threads soon, so keep your eyes open!

Thanks for looking! :dancer:

My cornsnake Emily and my garter snake Sydney seem to be coordinating their shedding times. I have no idea how this happens, as they are kept in separate rooms. Can someone please tell me what the decimal numbers mean when someone is telling what snakes and other pets they have? How am I supposed to say that I have one Okeetee cornsnake: Emily, one Wandering Garter snake:Sydney, one Birman cat: Cyrano, one Siamese mix cat: Mia, and one Long-haired flame-point Siamese mix cat: Simba. What do the decimal numbers refer to?
