Bad shed, strange spot

My snake had his first bad shed today. It came off in 3 or 4 pieces, but the tail tip and the eye caps came off. His body was totally clear of stray shed, too. I noticed his head had a bit of stray shed right on top, in the centre. I rubbed a damp cloth over it for a few minutes, which seemed to loosen a better portion of it. I tried to peel it off, and it did come off, but as soon as it hit the end it wouldn't come off any further. I noticed underneath where it was stuck there was a small, seemingly pinkish spot. He's a caramel corn, so this is pretty unusual.

Could it be scale rot, or a cut? Can I just leave it and hope it comes off over time or with the next shed? What can I do?

hmm, being new to Caring for snakes I'm no expert but that doesn't seem good or right! :(
I know that your not supposed to "Peel off" the snakes skin.. you should just set the snake in a bin with a moist towel for 30 minuets or so and let the snake work the old skin off on its own, just so you know next time this happens.

another good idea would be to go get a plastic container with a lid and some Sphagnum moss, mositen it and then wring it out very well and add it to the container with a small hole for a door and put that in that tank with your snake, the next shed should be perfect! ;)

I don't know anything about scale rot but hopefully some of the more experienced corn owners will be by soon to help!

good luck!

I read that it could be that his shedding oils got dried out during his milky stage, causing his shed to become rather stuck.

I really don't want to hurt him. Would a vet visit be in order if I can't get this off?

Many thanks!
