bad shed?

~slither~

Mr Dan Mansell
Slither shed a week or so ago and it came off perfect (eyelids and all) until about halfway, then it came off in bits. Could this be because I fed her around the time she was blue-eyed? I hope this is the reason, I've never had a bad shed till this one, i'm gutted.

Probably because the humidity was too low. Take a wet towel in your hand and let the snake go in this towel with your hand close on it. It should help get rid of what's left. The important thing to check is the tail. You have to make sure all the shed is off or you will have problems later. Next time, try to put a humid hide in your viv when you see your snake going in blue, it should help him shed in one piece.

A humid hide could be a butter pot with a hole on the lid and peat moss or humid paper towel in it. Make sure the hole is big enough and that the snake can enter completely in it.

Good Luck.

possibly too little humidity but...

i mist the viv twice a day when she's about to shed. But next time i will give her a 'humid hide' just in case. 3 or 4 times in 1 night but once more isn't going to hurt thanks breedingcolors!
