Ball Python Help!

Zeina

#Addicted
I only ask on here because I am coming into a ball python, like, yesterday- I have never owned one, and I am having a verrrrrrrrrrrrrrry difficult time navigating the BP forums and finding answers to my questions, and no one I know owns them. Someone dropped one off at the PD and it's hanging out here until I can get supplies- I'm the only person here who wants anything to do with snakes, so this dude has kinda been thrust upon me and I'm not prepared!
I'm trying to take him home tomorrow!

So if any of you wonderful, experienced snake folks could kindly answer my questions, that'd be great!

A.) Do they need anything larger than a 20gal long tank for their lives?

B.) I know males only get 3-4 ft, females 4-5ft (Is this correct)?

C.) I know the heat levels are higher for a BP, what is TOO low or TOO high
for the warm side?

D.) They eat rats- Is this normal and OKAY? I know they are fatties, so I want to make sure he is eating correctly.

E.) How long do they live- I heard 40 years, and oh my god lol is that correct?

F.) Substrate- I heard/read no shavings, so newspaper? Paper towels?

G.) Do they also need two hides, one warm and one cool?

Any other friendly information you may have would be greatly appreciated.
I don't have as much time to prepare for this thing as I did for my cornsnakes, but I'll be damned if I ignorantly take on this responsibility!

Thank you guys!!
