ball python question

ok, first of all i hope its ok to ask a non-corn question here. i just adopted a female adult ball python. she have severe back kinks but she is very active and it doesnt seem to slow her down. ive seen a kink or two on ball pythons but about 75% of her spine all the way to her tail is kinked. im just curious as to what causes this and any other information anyone can give me so i can make sure i can tend to her needs if any. she has bite me twice so far but thankfully she just got my clothing. she balled up for a while so i sat with her until she calmed down. we r still getting use to each other. she ate today (i think she was very hungry). any suggestiona anyone has is greatly appreciated. thank you

Kinks are genetic. Snakes are born with them. Hopefully the kinks don't affect her ability to eat. If they do you have a problem. Sounds like you have one anyway. Give her plenty of hides, leave her alone to let her settle in, and try offering small meals at appropriate times.

Hope she pulls through for you, doesn't sound good though.

Wow! Poor thing! It's gotta make you wonder, for sure--especially since she's bitten you not once, but twice! I'm sure she'll thrive in your care, once she figures out that you're a safe person to be near.

she ate a young rat and handled it great.the guy i adopted her from said he has seen kinking before and said it might be from inproper incubation.ill take some good piks tomorow.

kinks can also be caused by incubation issues, like temp spikes or drops. they usually do just fine unless the kink somehow impedes eating/pooping/shedding.

i posted two piks of her in my album. its actually the back half of her spine. i held her alot today and she seems much more calm. she hasnt struck at me since the first day.

ok i posted a better pik of cleo's spine. if you look closly all the lightest spots along her back are the kinks. she has not tried to bite me since that first time and looks like she mite be getting ready to shed. im not sure how to post the pik on this thread but i added it to my photo ablum
