Basking Lamps

Hi again everyone! I have another new question for you! When i first bought my s/he corn (who we're calling Ren...short for Renoir...ya' know...like the artist) I was told he only needed a basking light...UVA only as UVB was not necessary...at least that's what I was told. I'm wondering if this is kind if silly as he is predominantly nocturnal. Honestly, I don't think he's ever going to come out at bask in this light! Does anyone else use a UVA basking light? I was wondering if I might be better off with one of those lights that "simulate" moonlight while giving off heat? Let me know what you guys think and thanks again! :D

Hey

In my large main display viv, I have a lond UV light, a small heatmat and a 100W basking bulb.
The basking bulb is on a thermostate and it is really only used to heat up the viv and is hardly used by the snake because the snake never basks. The UV light is for display and the heatmat is there to heat the viv during the night, since I turn off the Basking bulb over night (and the uv light).

baskin light

Well ya the uv, and baskin are only to keep the temp in the viv on a regulare temp. Without the baskin the temp would drop drasticly, and might be dangerous for the snake. Heat pads are very nessacary for the snake so he/she could digest there food proporly. In pet stores they dont use heat pads just light juring the day. So when you see a snake in a pet store the snake is usally stressed and doesnt shed proporly. The reasoning to this is the snakes are only there temporarly. But at home you should always juring the day use a baskin light.

So all I really need is just a UVA and a heat pad (both of which I have), but does anyone know whether a UVB would be beneficial in any way?

Yeah, all u need is a heatmat and a uv light is not needed, but if does brighten up your viv.
