i have done some research on this but i cant get a straight up answer. if you want.... they say you can let your corn swim around a bit in your clean bathtub. whether for pooping or exercise or to help shed or whatnot. but some sites say to use bottled water or distilled water only since the chlorine in the faucet water is bad for em and can irritate them. i only use bottled water for him in the drink bowl in his aquarium but if i put him in the tube do i really need to go out and buy 10 gallons of bottled water and make it a perfect 85 degrees? cuz it doesnt look like he is shedding but he is all dry and like dry scales are falling off one by one.
 
If your using well water and not city water I would guess its safe to use as long as it isn't ran through a softer or such. I would stay far away from using treated/city water. To stay on the safe side though drinking/bottled water is best to use.
 
Don't think I've ever heard of anyone bathing their snake in bottled water. Just plain tapwater. As you say, it'd be silly expensive. If I were going to bath one of mine (which I have to say, I never have), then I'd go for cooler than 85 degrees, as that's towards their maximum. Try 75-80-ish to keep it safe.

In any case, bathing isn't a great solution for a problem shed as it's a one-off situation. If you suspect a problem with shedding, try putting a humid hide in the tank. He can go and sit in that when he chooses.
 
Personally,I think regular water from the faucet would work. I don't think snakes out in the wild can go to a local wal-mart and buy bottled water. lol Just think,those snakes drink the water that's available which I'm pretty sure isn't too clean.
 
I've always provided all of my herps with plain tapwater to drink I don't have any dead ones yet. My guess is if they can drink it, they can swim in it. Just as bitsy said though, you need to monitor the temps of the tub pretty carefully.
 
I can't think of any reason I'd put one of my snakes in my bath. It's where I relax in bubble bath. Snakes slither through their own poop! Swimming makes them poop! I don't want any poop in my bath! :shrugs:
 
well i never take a bath, i only shower, so if he poops in the tub thats fine. i can just wash it down the drain, no biggie. and yeah you have a point whoty, but the natural water doesnt have fluoride or chlorine in it. but i guess its alright for just a bit. i just want him to soak and release some of those dry scales on him. he just doesnt look right.

I clean my bathtub with a bleach solution afterward. I don't have anywhere else to bathe Grendel.
