Hey guys,

well a while ago this happened......

http://www.cornsnakes.com/forums/showthread.php?t=109716

Bellatrix, my lavender stripe girl wen into shed last weeks and she started laying her eggd last night, this morning i woke up to find 13 eggs that i think look good (hoping for some re-assurance on that) and a few slugs.
I got these eggs out before but i think she may still have a few still to come.

I do think that the eggs look ok, but there is definately one that looks a bit iffy on one side. Do you guys think these look like good eggs overall?
Anyway, im really chuffed and so proud of my gal!

Yep I think your right about the slugs. The others look good. Congrats! Hope they all hatch for you :)

im a little bit worried about the humidity levels in the egg box, im using vermiculite and i put a piece of paper over the eggs to check humidity and this morning the paper is quite damp.
Is it a case of putting some holes in the egg box to let the humidity ventilate or do i need to do something different.
Am i right in thinking that too much humidity is bad for the eggs?

Humidity is great! 100% humidity would be perfect. BUT, the trick is to keep the humidity from causing condensation which, if built up in the wrong spot like the lid, could drip on to the eggs. I want to say something about the paper towel, but ive never used one so im not sure what im supposed to say.

ye ther is plenty humidity so thats good i presume but there is some condensation building up on the lids! however, since putting the paper in there that doesnt seem to be as much of a problem, and if any drops do fall, they would fall onto the paper instead of the eggs.
But does this all sound ok????

I guess my concern would be that the moisture buildup in the paper towel could damage the eggs. That or the towels could suck moisture out of the egg, but im not even sure thats possible. You need more advice from someone who isnt me, obviously. But i tried.

I always put a paper towel in to keep drips from hitting the eggs, no problems with moisture being pulled from the eggs, but I do open it and turn the towel every few days, when I start to see staining on the towel I replace it. About every 7-12 days. My eggs all look good except the slug I could not get removed from the clump, but its just sitting there kind of turning white instead of yellow. Quite odd actually. No mold yet so. . yeah a paper towel on top to keep drips off is a good idea unless you cover them with moss instead.

oh ye moss is a good idea! i might do that, i have noticed today that a couple of the eggs have been starting to dimple so i have been spraying the vermiculite to keep it moist and i have put a half full shot glass of water in with them as well for humidity, going to but some moss on them now, il use some out of her lay box, il just squeeze it out to make sure its not too damp or anything
