So looking around the forums, my husband and I joined last night, I begin to realize--YOU GUYS KNOW A LOT!!! and that is just fantastic! I am absolutely clues as to morphs or any of the stuff...I keep seeing words like amels and okeetees and normals, etc. thrown in everywhere, but have no idea what is going on...without making me feel any more stupid than I already do can someone point me in the direction of a pretty basic intro to how to tell what your snake is and the differences between all the beautiful variations cornsnakes have to offer....Thanks!!!

Welcome. You can start off with 4 basic website.

www.SerpenCo.com, which is owned by Rich Z, who started this forum.

www.Cornsnake.net, which is South Mountain's website, and then www.cornutopia.com, which is Kathy Love's website (author of the Cornsnake Manual, aka the Bible).

www.Serpwidgets.com is a good website for basic genetic info that will help you along quite a bit when it comes down to terminology and genetics.

I also made a few FAQ's for various forums that are listed under "FAQ Development Forum" on this website. A lot of other people helped, and those are great places to start.

Might want to also order the Cornsnake Manual from Kathy. It's available on her website.

I agree...you read that thing, and you'll be well on your way to using the cs lingo with the rest of us. :D

After you read that one, I HIGHLY recommend Serp's book on cornsnake genetics if you want to learn about the different morphs and breeding this to that gives you what.
