Best Substrate

I was wondering what the best substrate to use in a digital incubator was? I was going to use sphagnum moss and keep it moist by adding water. But I have been told today of a product called 'Hatchrite' which is supposed to be low maintenance. Any ideas?

Never heard of Hatchrite, so can't advise there.

It may be similar to vermiculite, which is an inert granular material sold in garden centres (and Wilco/Wilkinsons) to mix with potting compost . It retains moisture and so is great as an incubation medium. It's also pretty cheap - I pay £1.99 in Wilkinson (£1.49 if I catch it on sale) for a 5 litre bag, which does three or four incubation boxes.

I lay the eggs on damp vermiculite and cover with a layer of damp sphagnum moss if they seem to be dimpling.
