Best Terrarium Plants -- Silk or Plastic?

Are plastic plants placed in the terrarium generally easier to clean and longer lasting than the silk plants? I've seen some silk plants that fooled me as being living plants, but they appear to be more fragile... Are they?

In any event, during my searches, I came across this website, which has an INCREDIBLE selection of plastic, silk, and PVC plants, bushes, vines, grasses, and even trees.

Zilla, Zoo Med, Pet Tech, Exo Terra, and the ilk all offer nice products, but the plants on this website are a better value.

Hi Dan, Plastic plants will probably last longer and are easier to clean but they dont look as good as silk. I have got silk plants which been pooped on and i just wipe what i can off with a damp cloth then soak them in a water/bleach mix. They come up good as new.

I assumed that the silk plants are more fragile, and you've confirmed my suspicions. :uhoh: However, if care is taken, I'll opt for them, being that they are more realistic. I wasn't sure that you could use soapy water and bleach on them. Being that you can, it makes things a lot easier. :)

Just make sure you dont overdo the bleach. I use roughly 1 part bleach to 10 parts water. This has been ok for me so far but i would always test a small part of the plant first to make sure.
