ok my girlfriend has had this fish for i donno hoe long its been a little while. But ok it lives in alittle bowl not too little but not very large and she cleans it about once a week but within 2 hours of it being cleaned its water is nasty and after a week this fish creates an ungodly smell i literally gagged when i got within three feet of the bowl and my question is what is causing this because she has 4 other betta fish in the house and none create this god awful smell, and 2 of the others are in the same size bowl. so what could be causing this and is there anyway to fix it?

My guess is he is not eating as well as the others. Old food is falling to the bottom and rotting. Also you don't say..but is there a plant in there? If so remove it. The betta's don't need it and it rots and stinks too.
That said...
Get them out of those stupid bowls!
Bettas thrive much better in filtered tanks. I have a 5 year old betta in a 30 gallon filtered tank and he is a very happy boy. NO smell...no akward weekly water changes...one happy fish. I would say nothing smaller than a 1 to 2 gallon filtered tank per fish. And the bigger the better.

yah she has one in a 10 galleon tank i believe but 2 of the others are her little brothers and sisters and the other one thats hers in the bowl those 3 came from wedding centre pieces and they dont really have the motive to spend money on a fish because there not the best animal care takers her family shes good shes got a crestie and everything but she doesnt have the money to do so with the fish

Well it was wonderful of her to take them in. So yeah if she can't move them up...
feed less and get rid of any plants.
And good luck iwth them...they are great fish

Go to a craft store and get a hot glue gun and some of that plastic mesh stuff they use for crafts. You can use the mesh to set up a single tank to still filter but hold multiple fish. You just split it up every 4 inches. Put the filter on one side, and it will circulate through all of the little "pens". My roommate has this setup in a 10 gallon for her bettas, and it works very well.
