You don't really think you could get away with doing that,do you.kev1144 said:so how does being banned work? you say good bye to your old user name and create a new one?
I didn't delete or edit any threads or posts that had anything to do with this incident. The "I smoke for fun" (or whatever it was called) thread is still there, and there's nothing too crazy in that thread, so only look if you're REALLY bored. The first post in this thread is enough to warrant a long suspension without warnings.Tinycritters said:altho i am a bit curious as to what happened in the other thread, I'm more glad that we have moderators that actually go thru the trouble of deleting inappropriate threads and banning disruptive people. I enjoy being able to tell people about this site when they start asking questions about my snakes (most are young kids too).
So Thanks!!!

Yes, when you're permanently banned you say goodbye to your old user name. And if you're so inclined, you can create a new one. And if a banned user comes back with a new name, and they disguise themselves as a polite, rule-abiding member, then it's likely that they'll get away with it undetected. But the real trolls always give themselves away, and it usually doesn't take them long. And the mod team members can check and compare IPs (which is not a fool-proof method of validating user identity).kev1144 said:so how does being banned work? you say good bye to your old user name and create a new one?

But with the exception of spam-bots, I don't think a single member has been permanently banned since the mod team was created. So this has really been a non-issue so far.
