Bioactive Substrate

I am currently reading The Art of Keeping Snakes by Philippe de Vosjoli and was wondering if anyone has tried the bioactive substrate and how well it works. I've read through old threads on this topic but to no avail. I've also searched the wonderful, extensive world wide web but can not find any relevant info on it. It seems like something interesting to try and would make a beautiful habitat for steve but I would like more information and some user opinions on it. Thank you in advance.

It seems like every time this comes up, someone says he or she is going to try it, and everyone says good luck and let us know how it goes, and then no one ever comes back and says how it went. :shrugs: So I don't know. I believe everyone concurs that in order for it to work you need a rather large enclosure, and most people here keep their snakes in tubs, so it's not an option. Sorry I can't be of more help.

Like Desertanimal said, this topic does come up every now and again. Here is a thread that was just started recently

And like she also said, no one ever comes back and says how it works. Personally, it seems to me to be a lot of work to set one up and maintain it. But try it if you want to. I don't see that it will hurt anything.
