Biting Snake

I have been away for a month and on return my snake has tried to bite me on the last two nights I have taken him out of the vivarium. He has coiled up and rattled his tail
He is about 14 months old and never tried to bite before now. The bites do not hurt but I am concerned about him becoming stressed. He was looked after for the month, fed and watered however no daily handling. Is this likely to be becouse of the lack of handling?
Once I have him in my hand he is fine and no signs of biting me again it is only when I try and take him out of the vivarium as if he is frightened? Is there another way I should approach him with my hands??

Just keep taking him out everyday and get him used to being handled again...

I Have the sweetest columbian boa who went on hunger strike for just over 6weeks... For that time i didn't do any unnecessary handling... She was a little nippy the first time i took her out.

Shes fine now 1 week later :)

Just keep being firm, don't let the biting make you put him back, if you do, it will only encourage negative behaviour.

I agree with Tula.

You had a vacation, and so did your snake. Now it's time to get things back to normal. It probably won't take very long.

Not that Uncommon

This happens from time to time. Here is a trick that gets them past it pretty quick.

Feed em :eatsmiley

And feed him well, if he normally gets one mouse give him two (if he will eat them) then give him a day to settle. Full belly equals a happy guy, :crazy02: happy equals no more being mean.

Just give him at least twenty four hours after a the big feed and as others have said get back into picking him up once a day or more so he gets used to it again,
