Black Spot on the Head of an Amelanistic Snake

Since around Christmas '09, my 3 year old had some peeled spot on her head.

(It's hard to describe but think of your skin getting sunburned on one spot and all the skin is basically peeling in the direction away from the sunburned spot.)

I inspected it and it looks to me that her epidermal layer probably peeled off a little. Other than that, she seems healthy. The peeling is extremely small. I would say about 2 mm sq. This does not affect her daily living.

However, the spot turned black just recently. This is where I became concerned and turn to you guys.

Is it scabbing? Is it infectious/bacterial?
