does anyone know what effect black lights have on snakes? my friend has several in his room and his amel wont come out if they are on

Well. Blacklights produce some UV. Snakes can see somewhat into the UV range. The sun puts out a TON of UV. So, the snake probably thinks the sun is out, because it can see the difference between plain white light and UV light. Since corns are nocturnal, it hides. Also UV light is very bad for an amel snakes eyes, accelerating its eventual blindness.
