Blind snake in AZ

That is so funny. It could very well be. And don't I know loosing them in plain sight. My husband found one in the grass once and darted for it keeping his eyes on it the whole time and he still managed to loose the little guy.

Are these something you find after giving the lawn a good soaking, or after a heavy rain, when the soil becomes heavy/waterlogged so they come up so they can breathe? Or do vibrations make them come to the surface (like nightcrawlers)? Here in Fl we have the imported blind snakes or worm snakes, Brahiminy or something like that, points off for spelling, and they usually exude from the ground after a 24 hour downpour. They feed on nematodes, so an ant-eating-snake sounds a lot easier...
Curiously? dp

The first one I found was after we flood irrigated the yard so I assumed that it came up in the irrigation but the other two didn't seem to have a rhyme or reason why they came out. No rain or irrigation this time. Vibrations? Could be. I do live in the city with a lot of nearby traffic.
