Blood python possible mites?

Jessica29

Crazy Alaskan
I recently purchased a baby blood python from backwater reptiles (mistake one). After letting her settle for two days, I did a thorough examination on her. She has these little bumps all over her. Not open sores, just bumps. I soaked her for 20 minutes and wiped her down with a paper towel to see I could find any mites, but I didn't see any. The way she was shipped was not very impressive, and she was shipped in damp moss, so that might be what I'm seeing on her paper towels in her cage (or it could be mites). I'm posting pics of the bumps, and what I'm seeing on her paper towels. Looks like little black dots (not moving though) and little pieces of scale or something. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I've never had to deal with mites before (and yes she is in quarantine from my other snakes).

Doesn't look like dead mites to me. Mites look like grains of pepper, and move ;) Kind of looks like little pieces of stuck shed, and looks like she has it scattered around on her......

There is a chance they may be skin blisters. Also, baby bloods are still imported in huge numbers from overseas. They are hatched in giant facilities over there and who knows what they could come in with. Good luck.

If you are going to treat her, just treat the paper towel she is on. Don't apply it directly to her right now.

Those do look a bit like skin blisters, if you put mite treatment on skin blisters you may make the condition worse.

Thanks everyone. Turns out she has an RI too. I got a refund from backwater, and she has a vet appointment Friday afternoon. I'll let y'all know what they say.
