Blue , but withount Blue eyes?

I have an anery and I am not sure what to think of the way he looks. I think he may be in blue but his eyes look normal. As most of you know, an anery has black and white belly. Just yesterday I noticed that his black markings on his belly are very dull and grayish.

Could this mean he is in blue? His eyes seem normal.

Or is this the beginning stage of blue and his eyes will eventually change?

Any thoughts?

Oh, and I forgot...He has been like this for two days now. He is definately looking differently than he normally does. Its just the lack of blueness in the eyes that conserns me.

It sounds like he is in " Blue". you have nothing to worrie about, their eyes do not stay blue for too long and it is easy to miss. he might not have even gottem the blue eyes yet. Do not worrie, everything if fine.

Make sure that the humidity is between 40-50%. One option is to make a humid hide to keep in there all the time while you are learning how to spot when he is in blue, and later only putting it in when he is due to shed.

I recently made a humid hide. I wanted to make one in a jiffy, but I couldn't demolish a tupperware container. I took a 50 count CD-R spindle, and cut out the spindle part (if you look at the bottom, there is a circular pattern you can follow). I packed the clear lid full of moist peat moss (you can get this at Lowe's) and placed it in the tank bottom-up (so if the lid is tightened on, the bottom of the spindle is up). Hope this helps.

Yes, I do have a humid hide that I have had in there since I got him. I made it from a tupperware container. He has never used it though...

Okay, he is DEFINATELY in blue! His eyes just turned blue yesterday and are still blue today.

Does this affect his vision? He seems to be kind of confused and upset right now. He doesn't seem like he can see very well...

How much longer should it be before he sheds?

They usually stay in deep blue for a few days, clear up and then shed. You probably saw what I call a pre-blue stage where they get dull, but not fully in blue.

Yes it does affect his vision. He will be a bit jumpy until his eyes clear. I usually don't handle mine while they are blue, just to avoid stressing them.

Now his color is not all dull and milky anymore, but his eyes are bluer than they have ever been... What is up with that?

Is this the same snake that was stuck in the couch, if so how did you get him out?
Yes this was the same snake. I found him two days later after doing some really deep searching of all parts of the couch. He was all curled up under some fabric on the other end of the couch. I was so relieved!

Hooray!

Thanks, he was fine. Unhurt and healthy!

Glad to hear you found him unhurt, what a relief huh?

My snakes love their moist hides and use them, however I don't leave them in after they have shed.
