Welcome to the forum.
There is so much to say so instead I'm going to take the lazy man's way out! lol :crazy02:

We have several very informative FAQs here:

Basic Husbandry:

Health and Feeding:
http://www.cornsnakes.com/forums/showthread.php?t=20965

Morphs and Genes:

And should you just choose to read, the breeding one:
http://www.cornsnakes.com/forums/showthread.php?t=47332

I also suggest using our wonderful search function here, as many topics have been hashed out time and time again and it's a great way to get all the answers and opinions without waiting around for everyone to answer them again.
The grey bar across the top of your page, third button from the right is the search function. Very easy to use and very helpful :) Say you're concerned about what size snake to put your corn in, all you have to do is search "cage size" and a plethora of topics shall apear!
Personally I also advise investing in The Cornsnake Manual: By Kathy Love.

Hope this helps, and again, welcome.

thanks

thanks i will have to read those-i am still in the convincing process but i know its gonna be a yes!:D...anyways-i would like an orange one(creamsicle? i think is the name...) but i dont know-i am getting one from petco...bad idea? i dont know where else to buy one but any suggestions are highly appreciated...i have always loved snakes and am super excited about even thinking about getting one!!!...thanks again!:D

Well my only problem with petco is (and I work there) You don't really know where the snake is coming from, sure you know the distrubuter, but its not like a regular breeder like the people here on this board. Sure there is money in it, but it's for the love and propagation of reptiles. The distributor just bangs them out as fast as they can to fill orders and send them to the store. My concern is that because of this we have no way of knowing their genetics, no way of knowing how possibly inbred they might be, and if they've had any negative traits passed onto them :/
If you do get it from petco though make sure you see them feed it to your first. You need to know that with your first corn you will have an eater. So first find one that will eat, and then decide if that's the corn for you. As opposed to finding the corn for you, and then finding out it won't eat. Despite the 15 day guarentee I know I would be heart broken if I had to return the snake after 15 days cause it didn't it.
Ok so if you DO find a snake there that will eat, after them having fed it and you making up your mind, make sure they find a way to hold it for you, as it will need to remain in the store for at least 48hrs till it passes the meal. Taking it home right away, just handling it can cause it to reguritate it's food, throw on the added stress of a new environment and it's almost guarenteed.

If all of this sounds like too much of a hassle I have two suggestions.
1.) Reptile show, find one in your area, we don't have them all listed here, so google would be a welcome tool.
2.) Post a wanted ad in our snakes wanted forum to see if any of our fine breeders here are within driving distance of your house :D

Wow...lots of typing.
Hope this all helps :crazy02:

All the convincing I needed was just holding one. They are awesome! Good luck on the search. Have you checked the for sale forum here, or kathylove's website?

I can only assume that the convincing mentioned, is that of whoever scorch lives with.

Definately worth reading the FAQ's and Kathys book is awesome. Read these before purchasing your snake and you will be fine :)

If it's from PetCo, it's more likely an amel than a creamsicle, though the two look very much alike as hatchlings. I bought my first amel, Gummi, from PetCo when they had a $29 sale. He's beautiful and healthy. However, the snow I bought a week later I returned after four days due to neurological defects. I now buy primarily from breeders with solid reputations. I might pay more sometimes, but there is a marked difference in quality.
