Hey all

I have a pair of 5ft normal het amels which I brought out of brumation on Feb. 21.

The male shed yesterday and the female has just gone into blue eye phase yesterday.

I plan on introducing them to each other 3 days after the female sheds. Does this sound ok?????????
What happands if they dont breed??? shall I try again th next day???
Can anyone give me any tips on what to do at this stage???

oh yeah, these pair bred with each other last year with their preveous owner fine.
Also about 2 weeks after they same out of brumation, I introduced the male to the female and the male got very excited ;) bu the female just egnored him.

Why're you waiting 3 days after she sheds?

I introduced mine the day of her shed. She wasn't interested, but I tried again the next day and she mated fine.

If they don't seem interested at first, I'd try every other day until they mate.

Truth told, I don't believe there's a magic formula for time. Corns are a little like rabbits, they breed without much incentive. Our big female sunglow shed, we put her together with our male snow after about 5-7 days. They bred within 30 seconds of being together. They continued to breed a few times over the next couple days, and then we seperated them.

This is roughly the same process we followed last year and she laid 24 viable eggs. It was also her first clutch ever.

So as I see that the female has shed, I will put her int the male's viv. Even if they breed strait away, shall I leave them together in the same viv for a week or take them out strat after they breed or what???
If they dont breed with in the first 15min of being together, shall I seperate them or leave them together???

Depends on how they react to each other. You don't want to stress either one of them out by leaving them together if they aren't relaxed. I'd put them together for a couple hours and see how it goes. If one of them is flying up the sides trying to get out, I'd seperate them. Chances are you'll notice how they "get along."

Our's breed almost immediately every time we put them together. But within an hour or two the female is trying to make a getaway. So we seperate them for a couple more hours and then put them back together.
 
I keep my snakes separate, but only bring them together to breed.

I used a separate breeding container this time, with a plain bottom and latching lid. Neither seemed to mind being moved at all, and once they got settled down went to work.

All in all, mine bred 4 times in this manner. I'd put them together till the breeding was over, then they'd go back to their own vivs, and I'd let him rest up for a couple days, then back together, etc.

No problems so far. Right now I'm waiting a couple of weeks for her to lay. =P
