I was wondering will two corn snakes fight with one another if they are put in the same cage. My one snake is about 18inches. I was wondering if it would affect either snake if two of the same size were in the same cage. Another one--- Does it matter what kind of corn snakes u breed or can u breed any morph wih any morph.

Q. will 2 corns fight?
A. not usually, but it's really best to keep yuour snakes housed separately. this lowers the chance of both of them suffering from the same disease or parasites, and it is also more "natural" for snakes to live alone except for the brief periods they get together for mating (i.e. living with other snakes is stressful for them.)

Q. can you breed any morph with any morph?
A. yes - they are all the same species, however most "morphs" are the result of recessive genes (so you can't breed a snow from an amel and an anery - you'd get normals het for snow instead.) For a corn genetics tutorial, cruise to serpwidgets page! (It's linked from my links page.)

Q. would it affect the snakes to be housed together?
A. definately. you absolutely don't want a female getting pregnant before she's a good 3' long (and not when she's skinny, either.) If she becomes gravid too young she can become egg-bound which can be deadly.

When the male corns fight... its more of a shove match they dont really bite each other.. at least I havent seen any of this behavior! I would keep my snakes in a seperate container just like HomeBreeder said... if your female corn gets pregant to fast... it could have some very bad results! keeping your corns in seperate containers eliminates all these problems! If your worried about another container being to expensive... you can go down to Walmart and pick up a Sterilite Sweater Box that runs around $3.25 just drill holes in the side... and there you have it a nice cheap home for one of your snakes!
