Brumation length?

Hi everyone
I have done some research on Brumation but different people have different ideas on how long corn snakes should be left in brumation. It seems to vary from 7 weeks up to 3 months.
Can anyone give me some advice on this please? :shrugs:

It is quite variable - lots depends on your personal breeding schedule and how long a break you want over the winter as well as how soon you want to get them going in the spring to have early babies and beat the rush of hatchlings on the market.

With corns, that will breed with good fertility without any brumation, there may not even be a minimum time. We have had good fertility and breeding success with some that were cooled for only 6 weeks, but usually keep them napping for almost 3 months for convenience and because we aren't in a rush to get the girls bred in the spring. I find the real advantage of brumation is that it allows us to coordinate the timimg of breeding.

So in my opinion, the duration really depends on what you want to do -

Personally, from the time the heat is turned off until turned on, I go 10 weeks. That does not include the two weeks prior to the heat being turned off when they are not fed, nor the 1 week after heat is turned on that I wait to give them their first meal.

Thanks for that mary, i appreciate it. I have a good breeding pair but it was suggested to me that i should brumate my male just to ensure good egg production next year. He has been in brumation for 3 weeks now and doesn't seem to like it, he won't settle down very well. I was going to aim for 6 weeks if he adjusts to it.
I haven't got a shedual for my breeding, you must have a lot more snakes then me mary? My second clutch hatched yesterday (12 babies) and where i live it is quite hard to home them.

Thanks for your advise again
