Hey all,
I'm going to be building a rack over the summer and I'm going to start buying materials soon. I was wondering if anyone has ever used "Flexible heat rope" If so, how does it compare to flexwatt? If I use the heat rope I plan on using a router to make grooves in the shelves to prevent the bins from being in direct contact with the heat source. Any input would be great! I can't wait to start filling up my new rack when it's done!

FYI Big apple herp has the heat rope the I plan on using.

i know a guy who uses that heat rope ...he's had no problems keeping good temps...i also have a rack that i made out of a book shelf and I'm going to be getting the heat rope too cause i can't find anything else around here.

your idea about the groove ...ha ha i might have to try that too , i was just gonna weave it up and down on the back but Ive heard belly heat is more commonly used.

i'm not hooking mine up for about 2 more years .(have to let my female get mature).
since you'll have yours up and running first, let me know how it turns out

I guess the heat rope isn't used too often... I'm going to try it out and I'll let you know how it works. My project has been postponed for a bit...My wife has requested a computer desk and end table (both of which I have to build first ><) Maybe I'll just keep getting more corns and putting them in tanks until they take up too much room...then she will see the need for a rack sooner :rolleyes:
 
The rope works good for me, I routed a groove in for it so my boxes did not catch. I instlled it 3 inches in from the back wall. Have had no problems, but be sure to get a good reg/thermo for it. Temps can creep up quick.
