Can some one help me i am doin a little bussiness with my mates and we r going to sell snakes that i am going to bread soon and sell starter packs but there is a problum does any one know where to get really cheap viv's,heatmat, waterbowl and mat and beding?? :flames:

I would use flexwatt with a lamp dimmer if you want to go cheap. You also should build the cage IMO, to give quality at a price that you could be more flexible with.

I think that's a good idea to sell the whole package too, if you can get enough customers.. It's actually something I thought about doing too, in order to make sure that the buyers are housing the snakes as I would want them to. I wasn't planning on trying to turn a profit though. Or rather not enough of one in quantity that I could consider my job..

Good luck though!

Define cheap and what size. You aren't really going to find really "cheap" vivs and stuff. If you can make your own you can really make more money there too, but then again doing that is usually for bigger vivs. Give us detail, what size vivs ect. Good luck with that, I'm sure it's harder than it looks. What snakes you have any pics? Sorry I just love pics of future pairs, lol

Good luck again!

I would guess that businesses have wholesale suppliers for their equipment and retail items.

If you can find an appropriate plastic container for cheap, you could buy a bunch of them. Drill air holes yourself, maybe provide clamps to keep the lids on tight. Then flexwatt and lamp dimmers would get people started on heating like tom e said. Add in some digital thermometers, etc. Then sell the whole thing and mark the price up for a profit.

I would just start looking around online for places that sell these type things in bulk, and look for deals.

Don't listen to the advice you have been given on the dimmers..
These guys live in the states and they only have baby voltages(120v). We got the killer stuff (240v) and that peaks at 350v enough to fry you.

This topic came up a while back, I believe the outcome was something like, a 13 year old cannot enter in to a legal contract and a bill of sale is a legal contract. You might want to check things out. Good luck, susang

There have been a few BRITISH tycoons that have started a bussiness under the age of 16. I'm not sure if there is a minimum age, but you could use an older friend to front things for you to start

Ya, that came up before to but then that person (the front) has a feduciary responsiblity to the sales contract. susang

Having considered briefly, and rejected the thought myself (at least as anything more than a hobby) for now, I would suggest the following to consider...

A customer buys a snake from you. Once. Okay, maybe 3 or 4 times. Even better. But each snake is a singular purchase. MICE!! Mice, my young friend, will be needed again and again and again. Make decent VIVs and sell them. Make decorative hides and sell them. In other words, the snake is the product that will then enable you to expand your offering horizontally to all the 'accessories' that your snake purchaser will have to buy again and again.

Just a thought.

Good luck!

LOL, Now that's thinking! Sell the snake, cage, heater and all as a loss leader! And kill on the mice, haha.

It doesn't have to be the kind of dimmer you wire yourself Mike.. Lamp dimmers have a plug like an extension cord that you can plug the flex watt into.

But anyway, our power can kill too can't it? We still have to wire things right also at risk of death, lol.

We use low voltages (110 - 120v) in work places as it hurts a bit but usually thats all.
When it peaks at 350v(house hold voltage)your brown bread.
Thats why I said not to listen to advice from across the pond, we have strict rules to electric use as its leathal over here
Besides I'm not sure we have flex watt over here. Is it some kind of heat tape?

Flex watt is a kind of heat tape. It gets pretty hot though if it's not regulated in some way. I wire it myself, but everywhere I've seen it for sale it can be wired for you by the store...

I love it cause it's so cheap and works great. Plus it comes in different sizes and you can even cut it to make it fit where you need it..

I got a dimmer ordered from a small electrical store (with italian instructions, that was fun!) that was safe for our voltages, we use it on the gecko's viv.
