Busy snake mama...

Does it seems like a snake mamas work is never done? One snake is in blue, two snakes need to be fed...including a bedding change for one of them. It is alot of work, but I absolutely love it. What makes it even more hilarious is that I have an empty tank and find myself longing to fill it immediately. I found myself on my breeders website glancing at the wonderful selection of beautiful snakes, trying to justify in my mind that an empty tank just will not do. Again, as much work as it is, I really do enjoy it. I find it really calming to hold them and watch them exploring their tanks, stretching across every nook and cranny, weaving in and out of their hides. They are such beautiful creatures. I may just go ahead and order that little blizzard anyway....oh the madness....lol

I bet! I just got home from taking a trip and visiting my breeder yesterday. As my friend and I were walking around the facility, I was all excited looking through all the baby corns and trying to figure out how to smuggle one safely on the plane. My friend was giving me a bad time telling me I would have to buy a house if I got another snake..lol. Finally towards the end of the visit, as I was playing with a baby blizzard corn(who bit me by the way) ..she looked at me and said you already decided on it didnt you? Of course I did! lol. To make it even more interesting, there is the reptile expo coming the 12th and the 13th...so now my dilema is do I wait til the expo or go with what I know and get my little blizzard ? oh the decisions...

I love the "work" of it as well. And it never fails, I'll have a few blue at once so they can't be held, then a few others are digesting, and so I might only have 1 or 2 to hold!

It's all part of it :) I only have two snakes, so I time everything up accordingly so I can do everything all at once (eg. clean both tanks on the same day, feed on the same day, etc.)

I think my corn Syd is odd sometimes. I notice people saying not to hold your snakes in blue (they can be testy, that sort of thing). Yet when Syd is in blue, she is more calm than usual - maybe lethargic, but she doesn't seem to mind coming out. Or at least care. Haha!

My Pueblan is like that while blue! He is normally pretty wild when you pick him up at first, but when he's in blue, he's a slug. He does flatten his head and make it triangular but that's about the only defensive thing he does at that time.

I actually stagger things, where I used to do them on the same day. I used to feed on the same day, but snakes being blue was messing that up, so now I just feed them when they need it. Thank goodness for iherp!

True enough! I think too, if you feed on the same day, you can't hold your snakes on the same days either...
I just do it so I won't forget ;)

Exactly. It's hard between the 5 of us who want to hold snakes! My oldest daughter has been sad because her snake was blue, then after a week and a half needed to eat, so she is STILL waiting to hold him!
