So Boo took his pinky from the tail end first today, and it took him a lot longer than last time to get it down because the arms got stuck on the outside of his jaws. He solved it by sort of using his tail to push the head and arms in, but should I break the arms next time to make it easier for him? It sounds cruel but I feed f/t so...
 
My Blood hatchling not only took her last pink butt first, but upside down, so that the arms and legs were sticking straight up! After 5 minutes of watching her fail to get past the legs, I carefully pulled them off with a pair of hemostats. That was the only instance in which the legs caused problems... I don't think removing the legs prior to feeding hurts anything. Might just be a few lost calories, I guess, lol. x]

I wasn't thinking about removing them, just maybe breaking the shoulder or elbow so that in case he decides to eat tail-end first (and upside down, no less!) they'll bend more readily to a hungry and increasingly frustrated hatchling!
 
Either way, it certainly doesn't hurt the mouse, and the snake won't care what the mouse looks like either.
 
Heh. Butt munchin.

I would just break the legs (that is, if your using thawed frozen!). Gross to break the legs, but better for the snake.
 
Many of mine have been butt-munchers over the years. If they latch on, then they get it down without help - it just takes a little longer. If it really gets stuck, then it'll just spit it out. I wouldn't worry.
