Buying frozen feeders in Bulk.

Look at ARS (American Rodent Supply) if I do the 100 dollars for free shipping. I can 200 Large Mice Frozen. Seems the best deal for me. Anyone use them?

American Rodent is ARS - I just got my order from Micedirect but I haven't opened the bag to see how everything looks. I'm afraid the big mice are gonna gross me out.

I live in IN so I'd have to pay $16 or so sales tax so it actually came out cheaper for me to order from out of state. I haven't seen much here about Micedirect, I hope they are good.

I just did a local pickup from ARS and all the mice look great to me. No broken off bits or anything. Haven't fed yet since I'm on regurge protocol, but they look good to me.

I have used MiceDirect...slow to respond to emails and nothing special with the mice. They are the premier frozen mice sponsor of the Repticon shows but even pre-ordered you pay a few dollars more if you pick them up at the show ( above the prices listed on their price list ) as opposed to having them delivered, but I have no problem buying from them.

Thanks BR289. I still haven't had the nerve to open the brown bag, lol! I had a couple store pinkies to use up before I get into that.

I didn't email or anything, just ordered and received them fast - those cooler boxes are pretty nice! I see now why they say to fill up the box, I wondered why they didn't just use smaller boxes but now I get it. Those are big cooler boxes!

This is the company I use, more bang for my buck, I can get more rodents because I don't have to worry about shipping, I have done comparisons and I get more mice for the same price of other companies that charge for shipping. Now, having said that, I will say that the rodents are sometimes dirty, but I thaw mine in water so that don't bother me at all! I guess if that matters to you then there are companies like layne labs, and, I believe the mouse factory have clean rodents from what I've been told. ARS is great company IMO, I have had no problems and very satisfied with them!

ok - here's a question for those who have purchased from various suppliers.

How are the mice packaged? Vacuum Sealed, Ziploc bag?

I think they should vacuum seal them - wish I had my own machine now. Mine came in ziploc bags, writing with a marker and some of the bags I can not read the marker b/c it's come off.

I might have to invest in a vacuum sealer which should help with freezer burn. Anyone do this?

Rodent Pro does not vacuum seal. When I got my one and only order from them, mice had fallen out of the bags, they were dirty, and they forgot 100 pinks. I never bought from them again.

Big Cheese does and Im pretty sure that The Mouse Factory does as well.

Thanks - might have to switch suppliers next time. I definitely don't lik the ziploc bags b/c now I feel like I need a vacuum sealer (hmmm, can we say more money???)

There is a simple fix, just double zip lock the bag. Meaning put another zip lock freezer bag over the orginal bag.
