Cage size for an Adult Male BP?

jennrosefx

*Insert Witty Title Here*
I've been going through many books and looking over various caresheets, and am finding conflicting information.

What would a recomended cage size for an adult male BP be? What is the minimum it would be comfortable in, and likewise, what would be considered to large and make it nervous?

Thanks!

I'm keeping mine in a 36" vivarium. Everything I read seemed to suggest that 30" was an absolute bare minimum, and 36" was a comfortable size. If you had a very large female I might consider bumping up to a 48", but considering a male BP will often not exceed 4ft in length I really see no need for massive vivariums.

A small male may fit comfortibly in a 20 gallon even, but its almost impossible to tell if the male will stay small enough so your much safer sticking with a 30-40 gallon.

I hear that 41 qts work great, and are under $5

I was just going to recommend that. Tubs are soooo much easier to maintain heat and humidity in. If you set it up right, you don't even need to mist to keep the humidity in the recommended range (50-60%). The Sterilite 41 quart would work great. I think it's 33 inches long by 16 inches wide by 6 inches tall, or something similar.

My Bp When I Had Him Was In A 36"x23"x15"
Which Was Around A 50 Gallon.
Huge Tank , But I Picked It Up From A Friend For Cheap, And He Loved It.

Took Me A Few Weeks To Figure Out He Was Pushing The Air Vent Out And It Fell Back Into Place Tho
And He Was A Fully Grown Male At 23Years Old When He Died, But He Loved That Tank.

I have a male BP and I keep him in a 30 gallon . He is around 3.5 feet he is doing great . :) I have had him for 5 yrs now ...

But like most people have said 30gal to a 55gal is fine ...

Well, my little guy is young...has to be under a year. While I want to eventually give him a paradise, for now, due to space and layout, he'll have to settle for a 3' x 1' 2" home. It's 22" high though, so I can get some shelve type things build in it as well for him to explore or hang out on. If and when I move (I'm 24 and renting...it's bound to happen sooner or later!) my top priority will be making him something larger. And the one I'm building now will be all lovely and African themed...so maybe I could then sell it...or put an African House Snake in it...lol! But for now, I think this should at least hold him a few years, if not longer. And I do have him out practically every day I can (except for blue days, full belly days, etc). so he gets plenty of exercise! :)

Thanks for the replies!!!

you should be good with that set up .... good luck

I like the 28 quart tubs for sub-adults (up to 1000 grams) but I like a 36"x24"x12" or larger for adults.
