Cage size

I have 2 young cornsnakes and both are about 16" long, but i am debating if i bought the wrong size cages for them. I am using 10 gallon tanks as my vivs. Should these guys be in bigger tanks for their growth to continue? does the relative tank size really effect thier growth rate? Thanks for any info. If the snakes are stretched out lengthwise, they are about 3/4 as long as the tank.

Nope, snakes will outgrow their environment. 10 gallon tanks are a pretty good size for hatchlings though. They should be happy in there for a year or close to it.

A 40 galon long+ viv is needed for an adult, ideally 3-4ft long and 18inches wide and high. 3ft long is fine for a single corn and 4ft for housing 2 together.
Thats my recomendation anyway.

and to answer your question about relative size based on enclosure.... the answer is genetics & nutrient consumption- you can't keep it small by keeping it in a small enclosure! :)

You absolutely do not need anything that big for an adult corn snake. 20 long is sufficient, 30g breeder is more than enough.

However, it will improve on their livequality. If you can manage a 40 gallon viv for your snake by all means do so. Why not? Put lots of neat things in it for them to climb in or hide under. They'll thank you for it.

sorry i don't usualy use gallon mesurements so wasnt sure of the recomended size for gallons, i'm so used to feet and inches instaed and can change them into gallons, but not how to change gallons to feed and inches with the hight/width/depth not being specific.
Sorry for the ignorance, but if someone knows a conversion from gallon to feet i would appreaciate it.
