Caging Question..

I've been looking around tonight for a cage that would work well with my soon to be Amazon Tree Boa.. I will need high humidity, and a large door for access, does anyone know any sites online I should check? Or any suggestions on how to build my own, because that is what I prefer.. Them BoaPhiles and Precision Cages are too expensive, I cant imagine spending that much for the enclosure itself!

Try herpcages.com Their cages are nice and I don't think the prices are too bad. I used one for our carpet python till he out grew it.

Alica is it just me or is that site pretty dead? There is no links on there except to email the guy, is it just me or is looking at the product a good thing before wanting to order it? ha

We bought our cage from him at the show in Tampa back in March. So yes we had the opportunity to see it before we made the purchase. I was very pleased with it while we used it. The cages are very light weight and easy to clean. I also had no problems keeping the humidity at the proper levels for our snake.

It was just a suggestion:D

you may want to try cagesbydesign.com they have cages that would work great for almost any reptile. i bought one for my carpet python. they are not expensive, and they are good for for keeping a constant temp and humidity

Ehh. You're probably not going to find very much that's cheap. I finally gave up and bought a 40-tall for $40 + a $10 lid. I really wanted something with front access, but most things that are cost $100 more and most don't have the viewing area I wanted, and also didn't seem very good for a natural-type enclosure. The big driftwood cost $22, and the brown vine was $4. Half a bag of cypress mulch works out to $0.75. Overall, I think I did pretty good.

About humidity - I haven't had any problems yet keeping the humidity up. He had a perfect shed 2 days ago. I just keep a damp towel covering most of the screen, and mist twice a day.

Have you checked out www.corallus.com? Probably the best site for info on tree boas.

Oh - I just checked out cagesbydesign - the 2x2x2 cage is almost $190 - more expensive than boaphile or vision cages.

I don't know what you mean about herpcages.com. There is a yellow box with links in the upper right corner of the page. Links go to cages, racks, accessories, history, show schedule, and order form.

your cage is what i had in mind! i love that, very nice setup! Ive heard that the animals need a sense of security though, so an all glass cage can cause stress on them because they can't really hide from view.. I was leaning in the rubbermaid enclosure decision but as a sacrafice, i really want something like you have.. Seems you got it for a really good price too, a cage like that around here would cost me about 90 bucks.. I may just buy something like that though and use something like in aquariums that covers the back glass and puts up sort of a image (cant think of the name).. So thanks a lot for the information an picture, inspired me to not sacrafice for a rubbermaid!

Herpcages.com .. I went there and didn't scroll to the right is what my problem was, hahaha

Hey Pinatamonkey what are you keeping in there i can't tell?? It's a very nice enclosure though I'm sure whatever it is it's very happy!!

you could always check the pennysavers and newpaper classifieds, peple are trying to get rid of cages all the time, and they'll let them go for nothing.

Well my favorite part of getting a new cage is building it by myself if given tha chance so hopefully ill be able 2..if not, something just like that picture will be used, its juss bad when you have an open top like that, hard to clean the enclosure..

Reptile=3 there is an Amazon Tree Boa in that cage..look in the very middle of the driftwood, see the red figure? there ya go!
