Cal King question: Desert fase? 50/50?

I believe there are here quite some kingsnake owners so I have a little question about Californian kings.

Is 50/50 the same or related to desert fase?

I love to have a nice white/black banded snake, with thick equal bands and nice white/black, like 50/50.
I saw some desert fases over here at the local petshop, and they looked very pretty, almost 50/50.
 
The Desert Phase usually have bright white bands that are thin. There is also usually some speckling with the Desert Phase.
 
I've also noticed that with the desert phase cali king the black tends to be more of a deep brown as opposed to a true black. Here is a link to the thread where I just posted a pic of my desert phase cali king:

Best thing is to just look at the snake you are buying and find the one that pleases you. Mine was sold to me as a desert banded phase, but there are those who will argue me down that he is a 50/50 or even a high white. Here he is:
