Can I cut flexwatt?

I mean I know I can cut it at the "foot" markers.. But can I cut it at any other spot or will that ruin it?
I bought some of Jeff's (great product by the way!!) hatchling racks and I'm wiring 3" flexwatt up the back of it, unfortunately 2 feet of flexwatt is about 6 or so inches too long. Currently I've just curled the excess down into the lowest shelf, which works fine, but renders the bottom shelf unusable..

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I think the only flexwatt that has places where you suppose to cut is the 12 inch, but I don't think it matters with that size either. Cut to the length you need and make sure to seal up the ends.
 
I checked into the exact same thing a while back.
JasonS is correct, only the 11 inch should be kept in 12" increments as it is constructed of 12" panels. The thinner varieties can be used at any length.

I've used 8" pieces of 4" flexwatt and they seemed to work just fine for the couple months they were running.
 
Yes you absolutely can. Use a pair of sharp, heavier duty scissors or sheers. The 11" is very easy as they provide a dotted line for you to cut along. The 3" + 4" FlexWatt has the heating element laid out in a diagonal arrangement. As long as you cut on the clear part of the FlexWatt between the element you will have no problem. Make sure you leave yourself a little extra, making sure you have more than enough. It is easier to have to take some off than have to add some on. Measure twice, Cut once. ;) You can still cut the 11" FlexWatt into any desired length as well. The contact runs the entire length of the FlexWatt and the element is arranged in a zig-zag pattern. If you cut across this pattern it will be ok as it will just make the curcuit at the next availible interval. Now instead of just covering the contact ends of the FlexWatt just cover the entire edge of the FlexWatt with black tape just to cover all ends. Hope this helps.
