Can You Handle With A Cold?

Just wondering since I know snakes are easily prone to getting respiratory infections...can you still handle when having a cold?
 
I'm pretty sure that the human rhino (cold) and influenza viruses cannot infect snakes, nor the other way around.
 
Good, just wanted to make sure because I have a cold right now and when I clean out their cages either I do or my boyfriend does, so one of us holds them, plus I wouldn't not want to be able to hold my babies.
 
The cold virus cannot be passed to anything but a human or perhaps a primate. They are pretty species specific. Salmonella is about the only thing you could catch and that might be the only reason you should refrain from handling your snake right now. You have a weakened immune system and it's fighting a disease. You would be more susceptable to other disease. If you do handle your snake, take care not to touch your mouth or face and to wash well afterward.
