Can you see your snakes in plastic?

ultimuttone

Murphy is my Sancho :/
I have heard one of the arguements against plastic being that people like to see their snakes. I just wanted to show an example of what I see next to my office chair everyday :), in their plastic tubs.

Very cool idea, how many do you have? another question is, since you dont have lights on all of them what do you do to keep them warm? Thanks for the pics :)

First 2 pics I think I was too far away and the flash blurred them out. I wasn't necessarily trying to show off particular snakes, but the fact that I can see my snakes just fine in plastic:) make sense?

if the first few pics are what you see each day, i think you need glasses :D

jk
yeah, plastic tubs have come a long ways and are quite clear

I completely agree, Traci. I can see mine perfectly well. They don't all come out as much as the others. And, of course, it's not as "all-access viewing" as an aquarium, but they are still quite easily seen. I can see two of mine out right now. With the exception of a day or two after meals, one of mine practically lives at the cool end of her tub where I can see her every day.
Hope you don't mind me sharing some of what I see. Although, if I took pics of them everytime they were out and visible, I would never get anything else done!

That's actually very cool. I was worried that since I like to see my snakes out I would have all these aquariums around. But since you can see them through the plastic pretty well I may have to make the jump to a rack :santa:

I don't mind at all :). I just wanted to show that I see my snakes just fine in their plastic tubs. And the better pics help my point, lol. At any given time I have at least 3 or 4 at the front of their tubs watching me watch them :D.
It might be nice to have aquariums for all your snakes-I have my BP in a glass tank. But they are impractical when you have any number of snakes, harder to clean, more expensive and take up too much space. If I had them all in glass it would take a week to clean everyone, they wouldn't fit in my bedroom and I couldn't afford to move them to a bigger size as soon as they are ready. I will never go back to glass with the exception of maybe a token display tank.

If I had the option I would like to have them all in aquariums. I think it's kind of neat for them to have the vertical space. And I wouldn't mind having 10 or 12 (or many more!) cool looking display tanks. But like you said, it's just too impractical. Space is a major issue for me. Plus, a rack is so self-contained that I don't have the hassle of having 10 independent UTH's with which to contend.
Still, if Ed McMahon shows up at my door one day, everyone is getting big ole 30 gallon tanks! :dancer:

Yeah... I have 3 big ole 33.3 gallon standards LOL... not only do they weigh in at 63 pounds each, but they take up a LOT of space! Building a rack to hold them is a pain too, as the base of the rack will end up with almost 300 pounds of pressure on it ~,~ They will be in the rack one above the other hehe, so I'll also need to invest in a ladder to get into the top one o_O Wall of snakes! Woot! hehe

I have no problem watching my snakes either.
