Candy didn't eat =(

I tried feeding Candy a thawed fuzzy today but I think it was too big for her. She weighs only 19 grams. She was extremely interested in the fuzzy and at one point, bit it and began to drag it backwards but then she stopped and would have nothing further to do with it. Feeling bad for her, I immediately drove back to the store and bought 9 frozen pinkies.

She didn't even seem to notice the thawed pinky. I tried to make her feel more comfortable by placing a hide from her vivarium in with her, I also punctured the pinky and closed the box she was in and left her alone for a while...

... nope. She was just curled up in the hide when I reopened the box.

:headbang:

So, does this mean I should wait another day or two? Is it every 3 days that you try to feed them if they're picky?

p.s. This is also the first time she's been fed pre-killed so that could be a factor.

A fuzzy for 19 grams is to big. You can feed her 2 pinkies though. If she is used to live then you may have to do the zombie dance with the pinkie a couple times. Get some tongs and make sure the pinkie is nice and warm and dry. Then dangle it in front of her with the tongs. Some times they think its still alive and that works. Give her 2-3 days then try again. You may have to just leave it with her over night. :)

Becky is right. A fuzzy is too big. I have a 30 gram girl who will only eat large pinkies; and those have to be cut and brained and wet. She will also only eat when it's dark. The two others that I have who are just as old are eating two or three fuzzies at a time. My advice would be that you have to learn to cator to each specific corn. I have others that will just grab anything of any size right from my hand as I put it in the container. Even though they are all corn snakes, they do really each have different personalities.
Don't worry too much. I think you'll be just fine. Let your snake have a few days rest, and try again with something smaller. They certainly seem to have good memories of what happens. Good luck, and please keep us updated.
