Clean up

Is there a recommended spray I can use on my wood chip substrates to kill bacteria on them daily, I was thinking one ous or something, but I'm taking deep consideration to the fact that some of these odor elimating sprays can contain harmful toxins to my snake.

Do you mean a spray you can use INSIDE the snake's enclosure? If that's the case, I don't know of any, and i don''t recommand spraying any kind of chemical inside your snake's enclosure or on anything that your snake would come in contact with.

Some people freeze their snake's bedding(without the snake of course!) to kill off some bacteria and mites.

If you want to clean off the things inside the enclosure such as water bowl and rocks and such, just soak in very diluted bleach water and rinse thorougly with hot water to get rid of any bleach left on them.

I don't think the substrate really needs to be cleaned daily, just spot clean to get rid of poop. If it becomes dirty, just replace it with clean, new substrate.

Sorry please let me clarify. What I mean is spraying chemicals inside the viv without cleaning it off, which is what I think the original poster was looking for. He mentioned using oust or something similar to oust, which is used to kill bacteria in the air, but for household use you wouldn't go back and try to rinse or scrub it off with water. In fact I don't think you can even if you wanted to. I don't recommand using anything like that, because even though you'll kill off bacteria, you'll probably kill the snake too.

And the bleach would be used to clean off decorative items inside the viv, NOT the substrate. And of course the bleach would be rinsed off before the items are placed back into the viv.

I personally don't think vivs smell so bad that you would need an odor-eliminating product. I use aspen, and it has a natural fresh woody smell.
