Cleaning & disinfecting wooden hides

I found an old post (2010) about cleaning and disinfecting wooden hides. People suggested soaking in vinegar and water, but they didn't say for how long. Others suggested baking them in the oven at about 230 deg F, but again, they didn't say for how long.
Can anyone please help? Or offer any new suggestions?

The wood baking should be 2-3 hours, but do not leave unattended. It shouldn't catch fire at that temp, but it may so better safe than sorry.

I have no idea on the vinegar soak.
