"cleaning" live plants

Hi you smart people!

So I'm in the middle of setting up the tank for our new addition.

I've done some research and bought some low maintainance live plants that I prefer in the tank over the fake ones.

I've repotted them into pots that I've cleaned thoroughly after washing their roots off to rid them off the fertilized soil.
I've planted them in Shredded coconut fiber.
I'll mix aquarium gravel with outdoor Modge Podge and make a "cover" on top of the soil so the snake can't burrow into the pots and make a mess with the soil in the tank, possibly uproot the plants :awcrap:

I'm really looking forward to how this is going to look. But here's my question (I've done some research on the forum for live plants but coulnd't find an answer to this ... maybe I missed it?)

How do I PROPERLY clean off the live plants. is it enough to rinse the leaves when I clean the tank and just disinfect the pot?

I really really really want live plants in the tank. I'd go and buy fake ones if there's no way to properly keep the tank clean with live ones, but I hope one of you has a smart idea.

I'm not sure if I could spray a vinegar/water solution on the leaves to disinfect, I'm not sure if that would cause the plant to shrivel up and die

Thankful for any input!

I _think_ i read somewhere that water alone is enough to clean them. You also might consider to have a group of springtails in there, they eat all the dirty thingies and fertilize the plants.

Well I have them potted into pots. They aren't in the mulch of the tank or anything. I'll get pictures posted once I have the tank set up, but that will be a while.

If it's just water then I'm in luck! That's too easy, I can take the pots out and hold them under the shower head!

Ooh nevermind the springtails then. Goodluck!
