clear corn

As far as I remember, that one died and it was the only one like it. Haven't heard anything more about it since that posting you went and saw.
 
i saw that snake on that site a few months ago. it died. it was probably just some one time freak of nature type thing.
 
I missed that thread... what was so different about it? I mean, I see the title for this thread says "clear corn" but I wouldn't look at either of those in the picture and think that there was anything majorly different about either of them... Is the one you're talking about the one on the right of the picture?

Yeah, that little one did die. Never heard if they made any more.

Looked to me like there was some defect in the snake's hemoglobin. There is no trace of red anywhere, not even the iris. I don't know how that snake could possibly make it to adulthood without a normal oxygen carrying molecule. It did make it quite a while, though. Sure would have been nice to have histopath on it. Very interesting snake, at any rate.
 
Does anyone personally know the person who produced the snake, or is it from a reputable breeder? I only ask because to me at least, it looks photoshoped. where the two snakes touch, it looks as if whatever effect they used bled over into the other snake as well.

But of course that coul just be the lighting , and a crazy looking snake
 
Don't remember who the breeder was and didn't know him personally, but I do remember at the time that they had a bunch of pictures, all looked the same.

Hello Everyone,

Back in 2002 I hatched that female in a standard clutch of Snow Motleys. I really didn't notice her at first and one day it just sort of jumped out at me... she looked really pale. She was well cared for and wasn't dehydrated or anything like that so I set her up in a larger box and payed very close attention to her. She seemed just fine other that her obvious lack of red color. I took some of those photos and thought that they represented her very honestly. They were posted here and on KS.com and I got a very good response from them. A few people made accusations of photo tampering. From what I recall some of the people who came to my facility, saw the animal and posted what they thought on KS.com.

I was very sad when she perished but honestly I expected it to happen. I didn't have a way of preserving the body for study so I placed her in the freezer. BAD IDEA... since shortly after I announced her death I was contacted by several researchers from the US and Europe requesting samples of tissue and blood. Unfortunately the samples would not have been viable due to the freezing process. :(

I bred the same pair of Snow Motleys in 2003 and 2004 which only resulted in our standard pink and green Snow Motleys. I am convinced that she was a "freak" and I as well as everyone I spoke to had no idea what caused her death. I feel fortunate to have gotten a few good pictures of her before her death.

There ya go again, Sean. I was just starting to forget that awesome snake. Man, I hope you get another. That's just off the charts. I'm convinced it had green blood. Seriously.

For whats its worth I was watching Mark O'sheas show and he was collecting lizards from a wild population that had clear blood. they where living and reproducing just fine. He was collecting them because they wanted to study them.


Added, sorry I am corrected below. It had been a while since I saw that show.

I would love to see pics of yours with it's more regular clutchmates, especially if you could get them in natural sunlight. Awesome little thing you have there. I hope yours fares better and makes it to adulthood, but I have my doubts. Fingers crossed!

Definately got my fingers crossed for it (and you)...I know mine in '03 weakened very fast, and the few hatched out by others have all met a similar fate..."C'mon, lil clear eyed snow!"
 
Piercer and cka, we know what Sean's parent to that clear one were. What pair prodiced yours?
 
wonders if it is some type of albinoism afterall albinoism in other animals can happen and normally proves deadly due to it normally resulting in other problems. Note I am not talking bout albinoism in the morph sence ie snows but in the medical condition sence.
