Climbing

OK our baby corn has figured out that he can climb up the side of the tank enough to the thermometer, then around that and to the top of the tank. There is a lip on the edge of the top screen ( which is latched ) that he has been living at for 2 days. Is this okay? Normal? He'll be too big for that soon I am sure

yes, he'll get to big for hanging out in that spot soon. I just found my new girl hatchling hanging out on that lip too.. she thought I didn't see her, but I did. As long as there are no holes to escape through and the lid is secured, all is well. :)

Oh my god, mine does exactly the same thing! I wonder when he'll grow out of it.. Even now he looks much too big to fit there, but manages to squeeze himself up there anyway.

My snake, Togo, used to love climbing up the sides and around the top. A few falls later he stopped that, and I think he realized he was too big. So I went and bought him some bendable branches, and he still loves climbing!

:crazy02:

Hah! Dexter loved the lip as well. He realized it was very close to his escape route. Once i secure the lid very well. He quit doing that. :crazy02:

I also have two bendable sticks. One is more sturday than the other. So i use one in the lower part of the viv, and the other for the higher area. Let me tell you when he is crusing he climbs non stop.

With the stick hanging higher, i hung about 3 artificial plants to it and to be honest that's his hide. He doesn't want his three on the ground, he choses the bushes up top.

Lupe loves doing that, even though she is way too big now. I don't know why she still does it cause it seems like a real chore to hold herself up, and she can't get down without falling, which she inevitably does. At first I was worried about her hurting herself, but she keeps doing it, so it can't hurt that much. Crazy girl.
