Cobra Heat Pad...Need Quick answer please...

Okay.. just got my new cobra heat pad delivered today here at work, and i need to know how you all attach this pad to the bottom of your steralites... i am used to using repti-therm heating pads where there is a sticky side, but the cobra pads have NO SUCH side... any advice is appreciated...

I have cobra pads on all of my glass tanks. All I did was use regular tape and make sure you are not taping over any of the hot parts of the UTH. Just use tape on the clear surroundings of the UTH.

could i use spray glue or double sided tape on it to get it to fit tight?

Huh? You could possibly use double sided tape but just don't tape the parts of the UTH that get hot.....

To be honest Jayr, I don't know about the spray glue. The cobra mats don't get as hot as some of the others, but I don't know if the spray glue would work or not. Maybe someone else can chime in here.

Don't the cobra mats have a sticky side? I thought they had a paper covering the sticky stiff. You pull off the paper and you stick it to the tank. Maybe I'm thinking of something different. I haven't used UTH for quite a while.

The cobra mats are the only UTH that I know of that does not have a sticky side to it....

I never attach mine to the bottom, I set my tubs on styrofoam pieces to elevate them up off of the shelf they sit on and then slide the UTH underneath. i don't like the thought of the uth touching the tub directly.

Cobra's don't have a sticky side, they are what us on this side of the atlantic use day in and day out.

Just a peace of insulation tape is need all the way around the clear part of the mat to stich it down, I wouldn't use glue as glue might noe stich when the pad heats up and may cause problems if the snake gets stuck.

Insulation tape is low tac so is 99% of the time safe.

I wouldn't really recomend this, but Cobra Heat mats are supposed to be used INSIDE the viv...thus they don't have the sticky side. I wouldn't advise this because of the heat invloved, but I do know a couple of people that do this and have never had a burn problem.

They're the ones with the paper on the sticky side. I'm trying to get this setup I have for my incubator working. The heat pad is a little too hot and I don't have a rheostat or anything to bring it down. I'm thinking that at 91deg I'll have some yummy eggs this season. lol

Don't forget to shake them around a little so that you can have some scrambled with the poached.

Basicley E'G'G their the same as those http://www.livefoods.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=149 which is what i use, and yeah the are safe enough to be used inside, but only on wooden viv's, for glass viv's/fishtanks if used internally they could cause a crack, so people with them a ceramic tile between the mat and glass serface is needed.
