I mean, trolling in todays definition is more causing hatred and anger intentionally, instead of actually planning out something smart to trick the victim, so I don't really see any

Well just give people an easy and cheap way to archieve a better enviroment for their pets.
If its a troll they give up, if its a real person you probably saved a few animals.

Would you know where I can get the information on which size would be good for my snake? Judging by ebay alone, they seem to measured in "litres", obviously for how much you can fit in the RUB, since I doubt they were first introduced as an alternative to viv's
Try finding one were the measurements are given. I use the one you can get at ikea. Get one that is at least as long as your snake, better a little longer so it can strech out.
Sadly the closest Ikea to me, is hours away, I'll try and find one with the measurements though.

For making holes, use a soldering iron and do it outside.

No, for Air, but you can make holes to secure the lid with wire to make sure they can't get out, or bag straps.
