Hi. My snake spends most of his time on cold side of viv.the warm side isn't too hot....he's there for days then u pick him up and he's freezing. Also I noticed a yellow tinge on his belly this morning...he's a snow corn....could this b shedding or sick?

A Corn's ideal maximum temperature is below human core body temperature. They should always feel cool or cold to you when you touch them, unless you pick them straight up from the warm side. Mine spend most of their time on the cool side, so that's normal. You just need to check that your warm side isn't getting too hot - 85 degrees would be ideal. If it's more than that, then your Corn may be avoiding it as overheating is more dangerous to them than being too cool.

Snows can develop a yellowish wash as they grow, especially on the third of the body nearest the head. I think it's just a sign that he's growing up!

This all sounds normal to me and nothing to be concerned about.

If you put a vine or some other type of silk plant you can have fun watching him climb and he'll be able to exercise more. My little snake sleeps boa like on her ivy.

That's absolutely normal for a new Corn owner! It's also the sign of a caring owner trying to do their best for their animal, so go with it. It will eventually reduce to a background sense of concern, and you learn to live with that over the years!

Trust me! I know the feeling all to well! PARANOIA! Haha, I freak out cuz mine stays on the cool side all the time, even when the temps on the warm side are normal (80-85 degrees)!

I know the level of concern and paranoia that comes with pet ownership and truly loving and caring for your pets. Since snakes are new to me I've been super paranoid about my Aki as well. I look forward to settling into a routine with her and knowing exactly what works.

Good luck!
