Converting to frozen

Does anyone have any advice on how to get snakes to accept frozen thawed? I have a Corn and a BP that love live animals but snub thier collective noses at f/t animals. And at 5.00 a pop for a live rat it is getting expensive.
If anyone has any hints/tips I would deeply appreciate it.
 
Make sure the animal is warmed up to about 100F. Try things like dancing it or mimicking movement.
Try to tease feed by bumping the rodent against body of the snake. This usually ticks the snake off and they will eat it.
You can also try rubbing it into some rodent bedding, pee or poop. This is to get the rodent stinking.
Try putting the snake in a small sep container with the feeder for an hour. Put a towel over it and leave it in the dark.

If all else fails take the snakes water away for 24 hours... Then dip the F/T into water and offer to the snake... They sometimes work out it's food when they start to drink....
 
I'd also suggest waiting an extra few days longer between feeding then you normally would, get them nice and hungry. Good luck!
 
I have the same problem but in reverse. My five year old Corn was raised on F/T mice then F/T rats. Not long ago he started refusing the rats. I had three F/T large mice in the freezer. He will still eat F/T mice but not rats. Live small rats cost a bit over two dollars. Three live mice cost twice as much. So he wins. I know about the risks. But he wants live rats so he gets live rats.

I have to mention that I was flamed here for feeding him live rats. :uhoh:

I was also bashed for not euthanizing feeders acording to the rules of some forum members. :bowdown:

One even called me a troll. :laugh01:

Good luck on getting your snakes to adapt to frozen food. I tried everything. After he refused F/T for over a month, that's right, he didn't eat for over a month, I gave in. It's a pain buying a feeder each week.
