Copper's Progression Thread...

Hi!
I introduced him in the new members thread, but decided to make a progression thread for him.
We bought him on 2/20/13 off a teenager on Craigslist. He is our first snake. The first two pictures are from the day that we brought him home. The last picture was taken after his first shed with us on 2/25/13. His shed measured 15.5 inches. I will weigh him before his next feed. Anyway, this is Copper. We don't know exactly how old he is, except he's a baby. We aren't sure if he's a she or a he, but we are calling him a he. I plan on taking better pictures of him soon. Thanks for looking :)

Sometimes I find the best reptiles on Craigslist. This is a great looking baby(I call everything a baby like all dogs puppies xD). I agree with Justine, wow orange.

Oh, Copper. This snake is trying to give me a crash course in snake ownership in his short life. First he escaped after having him for just over a week. Then, I made a newbie mistake and there was duct tape on the top of the viv and yes, he got caught in it. When I found him I thought he was dead, but he was just stuck. I got him free and he lost a scale or two, but is doing fine. He is living on paper towel and is about to shed. There is one spot on his tummy that I have put antibiotic on it (without the pain med). I'm waiting for him to shed to see how he looks after. He is one tough little baby. I let him rest for a week and then fed him and he excitedly ate and everything else seems normal. I am worried because I know he won't shed in one piece, but I will give him a bath to help him along (as talked about in other posts here). Believe me, there is nothing that you can say that can make me feel worse than I already feel. I love this little snake and I have been watching him and reading on here what others have done in similar situations. This site is so helpful.

OK, anyway, here are a couple pictures I took of him today. Each time I handle him he settles down quicker and he isn't trying to play baby king cobra anymore.

Well quoting attachments doesn't seem to work as well as quoting img tags... that was the last picture of him peeking out of his moist hide.

Just a little update

Here are couple pictures of Copper. He is now up to 18 inches long. I need to get a current weight on him. He is less freaked out when I take him out and he hasn't tried to strike at me in a while (knock on wood). After his duct tape incident he shed and is doing wonderfully. It's difficult to take a good picture of him because he is always on the go when he's out. I'm also trying to get used to photographing snakes. My other corn is a little less excited so she's teaching me. I'll try to get better pictures next time!
